The NFL should really stick to football, and ignore activism

Over at The Outkick, Armando Salguero has an excellent column about the NFL, forgetting what their lane is. Hint- it is FOOTBALL, not activism.

This is, however, a takedown of the NFL and its teams celebrating the lifestyle. And doing so without equal acceptance to the other side — many of whom happen to be NFL fans, also.

Consider that I could not find the last time the NFL’s social media account or an NFL media release promoted the traditional family that includes a married mother and father and their children.

Consider what happened on April 17. The NFL tweeted about players who impressed at the NFL combine. It tweeted about the excellence of Ohio State receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. It tweeted mock draft projections.

All these tweets came on a day 63 percent of the people in America who classify themselves as Christians were marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter or Resurrection Sunday.

Did the NFL mention this on its social media? Celebrate it?

Look, this is basic common sense. The NFL is a business, a business that has, for decades entertained tens of millions of football fans. Note, I did not denote anything about the religious/political/ideological/ beliefs of those fans. Why? Because football is about politics religion ideology FOOTBALL! That is it! No, don’t give me the NFL should “take a side” on abortion, gun control, politics, etc. They really should stay out of it. Leave those things aside for several reasons. First, a lot of your fans do care about such things. But, they hear enough Monday through Saturday. They do not sit down to watch a game and think YES! Let’s hear about politics! Hell no. They want to watch football………THAT IS IT! The NFL should accept this truth. Go read the column, good stuff
