Colorado Avalanche NHL Stanley Cup Tampa Bay Lightning

And, another Stanley Cup Playoff is done

My Lightning fell short, hats off to Colorado and, now, we get to wait until next season…..such is life as a hockey fan I guess! Now though, two months until the college football season, and this Gator fan is damned well ready!

The Colorado Avalanche are back atop hockey’s mountain after dethroning the two-time defending champions.

Behind a goal and an assist from Nathan MacKinnon, the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup for the third time in franchise history and first in more than two decades by beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 in Game 6 of the final Sunday night.

It’s the first title for this core group led by MacKinnon, captain Gabriel LandeskogMikko Rantanen and Cale Makar and it follows years of playoff disappointment. The Avalanche lost in the second round each of the past three seasons after getting knocked out in the first round in 2018.

With a mix of speed, high-end talent and the experiences gained from those defeats, Colorado broke through this time — earning every bit of the championship by knocking off the team that hoisted the Cup the past two years. Like the Avalanche fully expected, it wasn’t easy.

So, there it is. Sports is down to NASCAR or have they changed the name to WOKECAR yet? Golf? NOPE! Regular season baseball, does not do a ton for me if you cannot watch at the ballpark. so, until September Thank you Bolts! And GO GATORS!

Bolts bust Rangers, win 3rd straight Eastern Conference crown

Read Time:1 Minute, 6 Second

Now on to Colorado. The Avalanche have the best offense in the league. We are the two-time defending champs, and, oh yeah, we have the best goalie in the world!

Always extra fun beating a New Yawk team!

The Lightning will ride a pair of Steven Stamkos goals all the way back to the Stanley Cup Final for the third-consecutive year.

With Stamkos’ two goals leading the way, the Bolts eliminated the Rangers thanks to a 2-1 victory in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final at AMALIE Arena on Saturday.

Stamkos opened the scoring at 10:43 of the second period when he snapped a wrist shot past Igor Shesterkin at the far post to stake Tampa Bay to the lead.

In the third, the Rangers briefly tied the game with a power play goal, but Stamkos and the Bolts had a quick answer. Just 21 seconds later, Stamkos converted on an odd man rush to put the Lightning in front for good with less than seven minutes remaining in regulation.

From there, Andrei Vasilevskiy did the rest, keeping New York from scoring a second equalizer. Vasilevskiy finished with the night with 21 saves.

YESSSSSSSS!

3-1!! Saturday is game 6!!

NEW YORK — — After falling behind midway through the game, the Tampa Bay Lightning showed the poise of a two-time defending champion. They rallied for another late victory to move a win away from returning to the Stanley Cup Final.

Ondrej Palat scored on a deflection with 1:50 remaining to break a tie and lead the Lightning to a 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Thursday night for a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference final.

“We just stayed patient,” Tampa Bay captain Steven Stamkos said. “We knew it would be a challenge in this atmosphere. We knew it would be a low-scoring grinding game. We continued our game plan and got rewarded.”

Florida Panthers NHL Stanley Cup Tampa Bay Lightning

Florida’s “other” NHL team gets broomed by Lightning!

When you have the best goalie in the world, and are two-time defending champs………..

TAMPA — Andrei Vasilevskiy was locked in once again, something that has become typical for the Tampa Bay Lightning goalie when he has a chance to close out a series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

As a result, that made things a little easier for the Lightning as they swept the Florida Panthers with a 2-0 win in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Second Round at Amalie Arena on Monday.

“When a goaltender gives you a chance to win, it comes in a variety of ways, and tonight it was he wasn’t letting anything in,” Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said.

With Vasilevskiy on his way to making 49 saves for his NHL record sixth shutout in a series-clinching win, the Lightning knew scoring one goal might be enough. And despite being badly outshot and having two goals disallowed in the second period, Tampa Bay stuck with it and got the goal it needed when Pat Maroon batted in a rebound 6:16 into the third.

SUCK IT Panthers!
