Very sad news. Leach was an offensive genius and, a fascinating character

Veteran college football coach Mike Leach, 61, died Monday night following complications from a heart condition. Leach, who led Mississippi State since 2020, was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson on Sunday to receive treatment for a medical incident suffered in his home.

Acclaimed as the architect of the innovative and record-setting “Air Raid” offense alongside Hal Mumme, Leach was a three-time national coach of the year and three-time Power Five conference coach of the year. He won a pair of Power Five division titles and led his teams to 19 bowl games during his 21-year head coaching career.

News you just hate to see

Say a prayer for Coach Leach folks

Mississippi State coach Mike Leach was hospitalized in critical condition Monday, the day after what the university called “a personal health issue” at his home in Starkville forced him to be airlifted to a medical facility in Jackson.

Leach was admitted Sunday to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, about 125 miles (200 kilometers) from the Mississippi State campus.

Come on coach, pull through

Gators run wild, thump Gamecocks

Read Time:22 Second

Down big to Georgia, the Gators rallied, made a bit of a game of it, then, two defensive starters were booted from the program by Coach Napier. Since then, this is a different team.. Better defensively, better offensively, just all-around better. With, again, a top ten recruiting class coming in. How great it would be to run out and win whatever bowl game we get and finish 9-4.

Legendary Georgia coach gone at 90

RIP Vince Dooley

Man, as a kid, I remember my dad hated Coach Dooley because they beat the Gators a lot. Of course he did not literally hate the man, well except for the last Saturday in October every year. Hearing of Dooley’s passing yesterday, I was filled with admiration for an old rival, that “hate” was really respect, and I wish the best for his family, and offer condolences. RIP Coach Dooley

Fan who caught Judge’s 62nd HR unsure what he will do with it

Read Time:57 Second

If it is me, I am saying SHOW ME THE MONEY!

The historic souvenir came sailing into the front row of section 31 in left field, a drive Judge hit to lead off the second game of a day-night doubleheader against the Texas Rangers. Youmans snared it on the fly.

Youmans, from Dallas, works in the financial world and there’s no telling yet what the ball could be worth. With security personnel around him as he took the ball to be authenticated, he was asked what he planned to do with the prize.

“Good question. I haven’t thought about it,” he said.

After the Yankees lost 3-2, Judge said he didn’t have possession of the home-run ball.

“I don’t know where it’s at,” he said. “We’ll see what happens with that. It would be great to get it back, but that’s a souvenir for a fan. He made a great catch out there, and they’ve got every right to it.”

Apparently it is worth up to 2 million dollars

Frankly, the Yankees should buy it, and out it in their museum

Worst sports fans……

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 11 Second

Not a team’s fans, but a sports. Football soccer by far!

Updated death toll? 174.

Disappointed with their team’s loss, thousands of supporters of Arema, known as “Aremania,” reacted by throwing bottles and other objects at players and soccer officials. Witnesses said fans flooded the Kanjuruhan Stadium pitch and demanded that Arema management explain why, after 23 years of undefeated home matches against Persebaya, this one ended in a loss.

The violence spread outside the stadium where at least five police vehicles were toppled and set ablaze. Riot police responded by firing tear gas, including toward the stadium’s stands, causing panic among the crowd.

“Officers fired tear gas directly at spectators in the stands, forcing us to run toward the exit,” he said. “Many victims fell because of shortness of breath and difficulty seeing due to tear gas and were trampled.”

He said he climbed the roof of the stands and only came down when the situation calmed down.

Others suffocated and were trampled as hundreds of people ran to the exit to avoid the tear gas. In the chaos, 34 died at the stadium, including two officers, and some reports include children among the casualties.

“We have already done a preventive action before finally firing the tear gas as (fans) began to attack the police, acting anarchically and burning vehicles,” East Java police chief Nico Afinta said in a news conference early Sunday.

Queen Elizabeth ll dies at 96

0 0
Read Time:52 Second

I never was a big fan of royalty, or obsessed with the “royals” or any of that. But I always admired Queen Elizabeth. May she rest in peace.

The longest-ever reign of Queen Elizabeth II, the only monarch most of her subjects have ever known, is over. Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor died Thursday at Balmoral Castle, her estate in Scotland. She was 96.

“The queen is dead, long live the king!” Bells will toll and gun salutes will soon be firing throughout the United Kingdom as broadcasters, proclaiming heralds and Twitter mark the passing of one sovereign and the ascension of the new one.

Her eldest son and heir, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, 73, immediately became king upon her death.

As the 41st monarch since William the Conqueror in 1066, Elizabeth was the symbol of stability as Britain and its 1,000-year-old monarchy sailed through roiling storms of the modern age, including a deadly pandemic.

Best two words I can hear? GATORS WIN!

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 10 Second

I expected a tough contest with the Utah Utes, and, I was right, back and forth game, and, a late TD by QB Anthony Richardson, who ran for three TD’s and looked very much a team leader. And, finally, after Utah looked to have the game, a pick by linebacker Amari Burney, at the goal line sealed a nail biter!!

Matt Baker, Tampa Bay Times

GAINESVILLE — Florida Gators coach Billy Napier spent the offseason trying to lessen the pressure and hype on star quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Good luck doing that after Saturday night’s showing against Utah.

Richardson dazzled with three touchdown rushes, an unbelievable two-point conversion attempt and a daring fourth-down conversion and the game-winning score in the Gators’ 29-26 upset of No. 7 Utah in Napier’s debut.

Huge win, like what I saw. Defense needs to get a bit grittier, and definitely pass rushing is a must improve area. Offensive line played well, running backs are talented, and the receiving corps looks good. Richardson might prove to be very, very, special. Overall offense looked like it might be very dangerous. Tough schedule ahead. Good win, now next opponent up Kentucky, in the Swamp.

Now some highlights!

The two-point conversion play, DAMN!

Yeah, this nimrod will make it all happen

NBA legend Dennis Rodman said Saturday he “got permission” to go to Russia to seek the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner, who was sentenced to nine years in prison on drug charges.

The basketball Hall of Famer, who was at a sneaker convention in Washington, D.C., over the weekend, told NBC News he was looking to head over to Moscow at some point this week.

“I got permission to go to Russia to help that girl. I’m trying to go this week,” he told the outlet, adding he knew Russian President Vladimir Putin “too well.”
