The effect of the October 7 atrocity and its aftermath upon Jews in the United States is the ostensible topic of Peter Beinart’s recent op-ed in the New York Times, “The Great Rupture in American Jewish Life.” Actually, Mr. Beinart demonstrates a rupture in the lives of Jewish leftists such as he, who discover that they can no longer be one with their non-Jewish comrades unless they denounce Zionism (i.e., the cause of Israel).  

Beinart tells American Jews (those calling themselves themselves liberals, at any rate) to oppose the continued existence of a Jewish nation and homeland in the Mideast. Beinart depicts Zionism as some kind of fetish that American Jews acquired after the 1967 Six-Day War. “[I]t came to dominate communal life only after Israel’s dramatic victory in the 1967 war exhilarated American Jews eager for an antidote to Jewish powerlessness during the Holocaust.” Israel apparently never served that function at its founding or in the ensuing 19 years.

Quoting a leftist defender of the intifada, Beinart tells us that “American Jews…’have made of Israel an icon — a surrogate faith, surrogate synagogue, surrogate God.’” No, the Torah places Israel at the center of the Jewish faith. It is there that Moses leads the Israelites after they are chosen to receive the Ten Commandments.

Twenty-Nine is too damned young to die. Especially like this

Eva Evans had over 300,000 followers on TikTok and more than 30,000 on Instagram. She killed herself last weekend at age 29:

The cause of death has been announced for Eva Evans, a TikTok influencer and director of the Prime Video series Club Rat, who died at the weekend aged 29.
TMZ reports Evans appears to have died by suicide.
Law enforcement sources told the outlet a friend found Eva’s body late Saturday night after having seen her alive Friday morning, going on to relate, “We’re told the friend had a key to Eva’s NYC apartment and when they went to check on her … they found her hanging inside.”
Sources told TMZ “there were no unusual injuries … and there was no sign of a struggle.”
A note was left behind, the contents of which have not been made public.

Twenty Fucking Nine, so sad. I will not start guessing why she did it, blaming social media, or the way we all seem to be so isolated as a society or depression or some other mental health issue, or a dozen other “causes”. But, yeah. I do understand that we need human contact. And, no social media can never replace sitting with friends and talking, and laughing. You know, companionship, remember that. I remember, and, yes, I miss it. Miss it a whole bunch. I think our society has forgotten that being alone is great, but in moderation……..as a society

Concealed Carry is becoming quite the thing in Chicago. From HeyJackass! – Video: CCL Shooting 300 S. Michigan Ave

These days we rack up more shootings involving concealed carry license holders than police-involved, but since we don’t yet require these CCL’ers to don body-worn cameras, we have to settle for a distant traffic camera to pick up the action.

300 S. Michigan Ave is basically in the south end of the loop. It is about a block and a half to The Art Institute of Chicago, a half dozen blocks or so to The Chicago Stock Exchange. About that same distance to the Willis Tower, which was originally the Sears Tower, etc. The incident took place at 5:35 AM on 14 March, 2024.

Go read what The Other McCain is up to

There was less crime in colonial Salem than in Alvin Bragg’s Manhattan, and certainly more justice than Donald Trump is likely to get with Judge Juan M. Merchan presiding over this 21st-century witchcraft trial. Bragg’s theory of the case is that Trump STOLE THE ELECTION from Hillary Clinton in 2016 by arranging for a “hush money” payment to keep Stephanie Gregory (a/k/a “Stormy Daniels”) from telling the world about her “affair” with Trump (which, I feel pretty certain, never happened).

Trump was the victim of an extortion scheme, and “Stormy Daniels” was the perpetrator (or, at least, she was a willing participant in an extortion conspiracy against Trump), but rather than punish the blackmailers, instead Bragg is persecuting Trump, the victim of this crime. A year ago, the House Judiciary Committee sent Bragg a letter:

The New York County District Attorney’s Office has been investigating President Trump since at least 2018, looking for some legal theory on which to bring charges. The facts surrounding the impending indictment have “been known for years.” Michael Cohen, President Trump’s disgraced former lawyer, pleaded guilty over four years ago to charges based on the same facts at issue in the impending indictment. By July 2019, however, federal prosecutors determined that no additional people would be charged alongside Cohen. Now, in the words of one legal scholar, you are attempting to “shoehorn” the same case with identical facts into a new prosecution, resurrecting a so-called “zombie” case against President Trump. Even the Washington Post quoted “legal experts” as calling your actions “unusual” because “prosecutors have repeatedly examined the long-established details but decided not to pursue charges.”

Everybody knows Bragg’s case is bogus, including Bragg.

So, as my Aunt Peggy used to say. Braggs’ case stinks to High Heaven. And it might be very safe to conclude that the Witches of Salem, are more morally grounded than Bragg is. To say it another way, the democrats, yes all of them cannot be trusted so……..A VOTE for Biden is a Vote for immoral, dishonest reprobates

Simply put. VOTE FOR TRUMP or the Witches win
