Anything that has a lithium-ion battery needs cobalt. The bulk of the world’s cobalt comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). There is one major problem with that.

However, independent investigations conducted in recent years by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and Amnesty International have documented how many cobalt mines located in the DRC employ child laborers. The Biden administration also released a report in October showing that child labor continues to take place in the mines.

“Many children we spoke to told us that they were frequently ill. Inhaling cobalt dust can cause hard metal lung disease — a potentially fatal condition,” a 2016 Amnesty International report stated. “Skin contact with cobalt can cause dermatitis — a chronic rash. Yet the children and other miners have neither masks nor gloves to protect them.”

Well , the left is showing the world what their priorities are, and those priorities are not for children’s welfare

Natural gas is an ideal source of energy; it is efficient, plentiful, and good for the environment because it burns so cleanly. So it will come as no surprise that the leftists who run New York intend to ban it:

Gas stoves will soon become toast in New York, under a controversial new handshake deal between Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul and Albany lawmakers that would make that state the first in the US to ban natural gas.

The pending budget deal mandates all new buildings under seven stories be fully electric by 2026 with larger structures following three years later.

With a straight face, we are told this will prevent the climate from continuing to fluctuate the way it always has and always will. Specifically, Hochul says banning gas stoves will protect New York from hurricanes and excessive snow. Her estimation of her constituents’ intelligence is not high.

NEW YORK (AP) — A Tyrannosaurus rex skull unearthed in South Dakota is expected to sell for $15 million or more at auction in New York next month, officials with Sotheby’s said Tuesday.

The 200-pound (91-kilogram) skull fossil, nicknamed Maximus, is being sold Dec. 9 by an owner who wishes to remain anonymous, the auction house said.

The skull was excavated in 2020 and 2021 in Harding County, South Dakota, where other T. rex skeletons like Sue and Stan were found, according to Cassandra Hatton, Sotheby’s head of science and popular culture. She called the area “the world capital for T. rexes.”

That’s Joe Biden’s closing message for 2022. “We’re going to be shutting these [coal] plants down all across America and having wind and solar,” Biden told a crowd in deep blue California on Friday, arguing that it was “cheaper” to generate electricity from wind and solar

Is it? In California, which not only leads the nation in “clean energy” production but is leading the rest of us into rolling blackouts, residents pay 24.62 cents per kilowatt-hour for energy, around double the national average. There are only three other states where residents fork 20 or more cents over, the isolated Hawaii and Alaska and the frack-banning New York. The price of a gallon of gas in California is around two dollars over the national average, at $5.458. In Texas, it’s $3.173.

The president also forgot to mention that affordable natural gas, propelled by technological efficiencies like fracking, is as much a reason for the struggles of coal.

Go read it all. David Harsanyi does a great job of pulling back the curtain on the “clean energy scam” which will gut this nation, lead to horrors we do not wish to imagine, but it will make some very powerful fools happy, and richer so, if people starve or freeze, oh well. The self-appointed elites will be OK

Chesapeake Bay Mag, Calvert Cliffs Discovery Fuels Megalodon Hunting Theory

A pair of 15-million-year-old fossils found along Calvert Cliffs is shedding new light on the predatory behavior of the massive prehistoric shark megalodon.
Two fossilized vertebrae from the same Miocene whale reveal brutal injuries that local scientists conclude must have come from a megalodon. Amazingly, the whale appears to have survived for another two months after having its bones crushed by the megatooth shark.

Researchers from the Calvert Marine Museum (CMM) and the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine made a detailed study of the prehistoric fossils. They come from a whale that would have been about 13 feet long and show evidence of a major shear-compression fracture. “For this kind of injury to happen,” CMM researchers say, ” the whale’s backbones had to have been bent very forcefully into such a tight curve that pressure from the adjacent forward vertebra smashed the next one. This would have been an excruciatingly painful injury for the whale.”

No shear-compression fracture like the one in the whale fossil has been found in any living modern-day whale, even from blunt force injuries suffered during boat strikes.

In review Megalodon was a bad ass fish!

Climate Czar Lurch?

No, not Lurch, John Kerry is our “Climate Czar” which, basically means he gets paid to fly around A LOT of polluting private jets to tell everyone how BAD polluting is. In other words he is getting richer by polluting. H/T MRC TV

Collin Anderson writes for the Washington Free Beacon that Mr. Kerry is keeping up his holier-than-thou hypocrisy:
“In his role as President Joe Biden’s climate czar, John Kerry has flown more than 180,000 miles—flights that emitted more than 9.5 million pounds of carbon, a Washington Free Beacon analysis found.”

Likely that Czar Kerry might want to chastise them for doing that analysis. After all, how much energy did they use conducting it?

An important question. I mean this issue is SOOOOO important to John “F@#$ing” Kerry, so how much carbon have travels created?

“The Free Beacon reviewed 75 of Kerry’s official travel announcements from March 2021 to July 2022, which show Kerry has flown roughly 180,100 miles—the equivalent of traveling around the world more than seven times—to discuss climate change with various world leaders. Planes on average produce 53.3 pounds of carbon dioxide per mile traveled, according to carbon emissions modeling website BlueSkyModel, meaning Kerry’s flights have produced 9.54 million pounds, or 4,772 tons, of carbon—roughly 300 times the average American’s carbon footprint for an entire year. From May 13, 2021, to May 19, 2021, for example, Kerry traveled to Rome, London, and Berlin before returning stateside. Those flights total roughly 10,100 miles and 538,000 pounds of carbon.”

See, ZERO CARBON Kerry is actually one of the most egregious polluters out there. He might have a carbon foot print bigger than some neighborhoods, BUT we must listen to him and obey

New York, along with other states, is moving forward with massive wind turbine projects.
The push for “9,000 megawatts of offshore wind energy” comes at a high price, not only for families who are left dependent on expensive and unreliable energy, but for the planet.
Wind turbines require massive amounts of rare earths for their generators and motors. A single wind turbine eats up tons of rare earth metals. Rare earth mining carried out in China is horrifyingly destructive to people and the environment.
One story described radioactive lakes, high cancer rates and villagers whose “teeth began to fall out” and “hair turned white at unusually young ages”. “Children were born with soft bones and cancer rates rocketed.”
A recent Associated Press story about rare earth mining operations in Burma told of a world where “birds no longer sing, and the herbs no longer grow. The fish no longer swim in rivers that have turned a murky brown.”
An offshore wind turbine can produce somewhere between 9 and 14 megawatts depending on its size. New York’s goal would require a thousand offshore wind turbines. Fiberglass wind turbine blades can’t be recycled and end up in massive landfills where they remain, according to one executive, “forever”. But within the fiberglass sheath is balsa wood that can be recycled

It goes on and on, nothing but a massive scam, a scam that will make certain people very rich, and the health of the planet? Please go read it all

When COVID-19 policy critic Alex Berenson got banned from Twitter last year, he sued them, and his account was reinstated after it was revealed that White House officials singled him out by name at an April 2021 White House meeting with representatives of social-media companies.

In June 2021, two months before Berenson was banned from Twitter, the platform banned Naomi Wolf, the famed feminist author of The Beauty Myth who had become outspoken in expressing concerns about COVID-19 vaccine risks, especially for women. In a post Wednesday on the alternative platform Gettr, Wolf said her lawyers had informed her that “documents from Missouri AG Eric Schmitt’s lawsuit” showed she had been “singled out” by “the White House itself.” You don’t have to agree with Wolf (about vaccines or anything else) to be outraged by the idea of government officials pressuring social media companies to censor controversial content by labeling it “misinformation.”

Wolf’s critics would say she has published false or, at least, unverified claims about COVID-19 vaccine risks, and my point is: It doesn’t matter.

(Reuters) – Paleontologists have been working away in a Portuguese backyard to unearth the remains of what could be the largest dinosaur ever found in Europe, University of Lisbon researchers said.
Fossilized fragments from the dinosaur were first discovered in 2017 by a property owner in the city of Pombal in central Portugal while doing construction work.
Earlier this month, Spanish and Portuguese paleontologists worked on the site to unearth what they reckon is a dinosaur that was about 25 metres (82 feet) long and lived around 145 million years ago, the university’s Faculty of Sciences department said.
