Former TV journalist Yekaterina Duntsova was barred on Saturday from running against President Vladimir Putin in an election next March because of alleged mistakes in her application to register as a candidate.

So mistakes in her application. And her actual ability to win the election also disqualified her.

The immediate torpedoing of her campaign will be seized on by Putin’s critics as evidence that no one with genuine opposition views will be allowed to stand against him in the first presidential election since he launched the war in Ukraine. They see it as a fake process with only one possible outcome.

Odd. The least Democratic folks in America seem to be members of the Democratic Party. HMMMMMMMM

Napoleon’s promise to carry on the work of the French Revolution and “liberate” the world had inspired a cult of personality. Beethoven had initially dedicated his Eroica symphony to Napoleon. And the famous composer was far from alone in being caught up in his cause.

The German liberal admirers of Napoleon eventually split into nationalists and radicals. Their cultural descendants became Communists or Nazis. Millions were carried away by cults of personality that made mass murder seem exciting and glamorous. Ernst Hanfstaengl, a member of America’s elites, made “Sieg Heil” resonate to Harvard football chants of “Fight, fight, fight!”

Until too many bodies began to pile up, American elites were enthused by the energy of Communism and National Socialism. Writers, musicians, pundits and politicians admired Mussolini, Lenin, Hitler and Stalin as latter day Napoleon who could get things done. Revolutions to topple the order and remake the world would always be more romantic.

And that has never changed.

Israelis, like Americans, have fallen into the folly of arguing the morality of their cause, but the romance of a cause always trumps its morality. America’s cause and Israel’s cause were far more popular when they were romantic rather than when they insisted on their morality.

Morality inspires few people. When you have to argue the morality of your cause, you’ve lost.

Tom Knighton asks a snot nose hack what they really think of sportsmen…..

Yet is seems that my colleague Gabriella Hoffman, writing at our sister site Townhall, found a newspaper who doesn’t think much of such folks.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel editorial board smeared Florida hunters and anglers as “low-information, far right voters” for supporting a 2024 ballot initiative to enshrine a right to hunt and fish amendment into the state Constitution. This measure will go before Floridians for a vote during the 2024 election.

The op-ed writes, “So what’s the point of putting it on the ballot? The best argument we can see for this stinker is that it’s bait — intended to draw out low-information, far-right voters who can be easily swindled into believing that their rights are somehow under attack and who will, presumably, be voting conservative across the rest of the ballot. And Florida’s deep-red Legislature doesn’t care about anything else, if it means winning a few more votes.”

Why should Floridians oppose this pending ballot measure? The paper cites a token “expert” who positions himself as a conservationist (but isn’t) who essentially wrote it’s icky to pre-emptively protect hunting and fishing from future attacks.

The editorial board, unsurprisingly, misrepresented the topic by claiming it will “wreck environmental laws” and claims there’s little support for the measure because “lawmakers should hear from their constituents who are suspicious of this amendment, and other reckless efforts to hoodwink voters, with one clear message: This dog don’t hunt.”

The pretentious media snobs, they pretend to be so wise. Yet their words show how foolish they are…….go read it all

No matter what leftists get caught doing, it is NEVER their fault. They are never ever guilty of poor judgment, acting the fool, using piss poor judgement, or being absolutely unprofessional, or in this case doing the “deed” in a completely inappropriate location.

Everybody has already commented on the bizarre case of Aidan Maese-Czeropski, the staffer for Maryland Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin who was fired after posting a video of himself being sodomized in a hearing room at the Hart Senate Office Building, and then claimed victimhood:

Aidan Maese-Czeropski, the Senate staffer who filmed himself having anal sex in a Senate hearing room, cried homophobia after the video leaked online.
As Breitbart News reported on Friday, leaked video footage showed the staffer having anal sex on a table in the Senate hearing room where lawmakers sit to ask questions during important proceedings like Supreme Court nominations. The sex appeared unprotected. Another photo showed the staffer on all fours on top of a desk while salaciously staring back at the camera.
The staffer was later identified as Aidan Maese-Czeropski of Sen. Ben Cardin’s (D-MD) office and was fired as a result. . . .
After his identity went viral, Aidan Maese-Czeropski released a statement on his LinkedIn that appeared to blame the fallout from the whole incident on homophobia.
“This has been a difficult time for me, as I have been attacked for who I love to pursue a political agenda,” he said. “While some of my actions in the past have shown poor judgement, I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace.”
“Any attempts to characterize my actions otherwise are fabricated and I will be exploring what legal options are available to me in these matters,” he added.

Yeah, sorry, but playing the victim here is a big stretch, I mean come on. You would think everybody would agree taking your pants off at your job and filming yourself doing, well, explatory drilling is, just wrong. Do we REALLY have to explain that?
