Remember some DA’s hate self-defense

Some DA’s apparently deeply believe tat the victim, must prioritize getting away rather than defending themselves. Zendo Deb gives us an example

And the DA hates that. St. Louis jury acquits man who claimed self-defense in fatal gas station shooting

When Humphrey [76-yrs old] left the store, Stewart [33-yrs old] was outside, and the two started to fight. Stewart punched Humphrey at least 12 times and kicked him after he fell on the ground, defense attorneys said.

When Humphrey got back on his feet he shot and killed Stewart, who died, and his father, who survived.

Prosecutors charged Humphrey in January 2020 with first-degree murder, assault and armed criminal action roughly two months later, arguing he had plenty of opportunities to leave without firing his gun.

Sure, at 64 most people can easily sprint away, right? Here is a bit more from the St. Louis Dispatch

Marvin Humphrey, a 64-year-old military veteran, argued he acted in self-defense when he fatally shot 33-year-old Shawn Stewart, of St. Louis, just outside the Love’s Travel Stop on Broadway off Interstate 70 on Nov. 28.

Surveillance video from the trial showed Humphrey walking up to the gas station counter to buy a 12-pack of Bud Light just after 1 p.m. that day. He smiled and chatted with the cashier and was waiting on a price check when Stewart walked up to the counter. The two started arguing about what was taking so long.

Well, self-defense is a human right, and when someone half your age, punches you a dozen times, over nothing more than a price check on beer? I understand how the older man felt his life was on the line.

Don’t want to get shot? Do not attack a senior citizen over a very small thing

  1. I’m too old to run, too small to fight you and too damn tired of your bullshit. I’m just gonna shoot you twice.

  2. One of the reasons why the DA’s in large cities hate the justified self-defense angle is that they HAVE to prosecute the person who was initially attacked. If they don’t, the left’s grievance mascots will hound them and their families until they lose the next election. Do some of them believe in this “You have a duty to run away” crap? Sure. However, a number of them will privately say, “This asshole had it coming and his number was finally up.”

  3. I’m with you p2, when I was in my late 40s, I had to face the fact that I could not reliably defend myself against your average thug anymore. So, I kept a softball bat by the door and a homemade leather blackjack in each vehicle. My ability to effectively swing either has deteriorated over the years to the point that I’ve had to move on. Now, in my 60s, I’m a much easier mark and I look the part too. I can still run but not far enough or fast enough, so I carry. I still look like a victim alright, but I’m not.

  4. Remember. The PROCESS is also the PUNISHMENT. You may beat the rap but not the ride. The DA’s victim may have beat the charges but he still went to jail and spent countless thousands of dollars on defending himself in court plus unto!d anguish and headache over this bullshit ass clowns hatred of self defense.
