The late George Carlin used to say, you know how stupid the average guy is? Well, half the people are dumber than that. This crossed my mind because CNN — I watch CNN so you don’t have to — was hyping up this Quinnipiac University poll claiming that (a) Biden is leading Trump 50% to 44%, and (b) Nikki Haley would beat Biden, 47% to 42%.
Of course, you don’t believe that any more than I believe it and, quite frankly, I don’t think the people at CNN believe it either, but the point is that they think the CNN audience will believe it, and who can say they’re wrong? The CNN audience is composed of the kind of people who would vote to elect Fani Willis as their district attorney.
Here’s an important fact: Quinnipiac polls are garbage.
In August 2016, they had Hillary Clinton beating Trump by 10 points:
“We are starting to hear the faint rumblings of a Hillary Clinton landslide as her 10-point lead is further proof that Donald Trump is in a downward spiral as the clock ticks,” Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in a statement.
LOL. If you’re the kind of person who pays attention to such things, you know Quinnipiac’s had a very bad track record in recent years, but if you’re a CNN viewer — the kind who’s dumber than the average guy — then you might actually be fooled when your news network of choice tells you that Joe Biden is beating Trump and that Nikki Haley would be a better candidate for Republicans. Here’s something else the average CNN viewer probably doesn’t realize: The Republican primary campaign is over. Trump wins, period, and there’s not much point paying attention to whatever Nikki Haley says or does between now and the moment she finally admits defeat. You know this. I know this. It’s simply a fact.
Go read the whole thing
On some distant planet in the far reaches of a dim spiral of the galaxy Biden leads Trump by 2.5 points.
Yeah, I heard that report. I was glad I didn’t have coffee in my mouth.
