The Other McCain

Did you know that the idea of banning plastic straws was inspired by a nine-year-old boy’s science project? After reading that startling fact, I found myself going down a research rabbit-hole, during which I discovered that in 2018, Seattle became “the first major U.S. city to ban single-use plastic straws and utensils in food service.”

Then I began researching Seattle, which led me to this video by Jonathan Choe of the Discovery Institute:

FIRST POST OF 2024: I think it’s only fitting that I start the New Year at the corner of 3rd Ave & Pike St in downtown Seattle. I gotta stay on brand. ?
It’s after midnight and the open air drug den/black market of stolen goods is thriving. All the regulars are here and people… pic.twitter.com/v1VtIRl5Yg

In Seattle, one of the richest cities in the world, entire blocks of downtown streets have become open-air drug markets, but — BUT! — you can’t get a plastic straw in a restaurant there.

After further research, I started writing:

George Floyd Riots “Historic Movement For Justice” – Joe Biden

In the New York Times summary of Joe’s Charleston speech, this paragraph stands out:

In his speech, Mr. Biden recalled the dark days nearly nine years ago when gunfire erupted just feet away from where he was standing on Monday, a slaughter born, he said, of poison.

“What is that poison?” he asked. “White supremacy. Throughout our history, it’s ripped this nation apart. This has no place in America — not today, tomorrow or ever.”

The video evidence from the Biden visit to Charleston:

US President Joe Biden denounced white supremacy and political violence in a direct message to Black voters during a visit to South Carolina aimed at shoring up a critical constituency whose support has waned since he took office https://t.co/3S9h7jmwTk pic.twitter.com/xABPRxlIHP

Nine parishioners were mowed down by a mentally-ill White Supremacist. What did the people of Charleston do? They mourned, they prayed, they held vigils. You know what they did not do? RIOT!

After years of riots, including the latest outburst of pro-Hamas attacks targeting synagogues, churches, and Jewish restaurants, it turns out that there is a way to stop them after all.

New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella recently filed civil rights charges against a Neo-Nazi group which had been protesting outside a drag event at a cafe.

In December, Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell filed civil rights charges against the same group for harassing drag events and migrant housing facilities. Campbell claimed that the Nationalist Social Club had “engaged in a concerted attempt to target and terrorize people across Massachusetts and interfere with their rights.”

The National Socialists didn’t actually do anything more (and arguably less) than BLM and Hamas supporters have spent the last three years doing to people around the country.

In New Hampshire, they were accused of banging on the windows and making intimidating gestures. In Massachusetts, they were charged with trespassing, intimidating hotel staff and disrupting the operations of hotels. They’ve also been accused of minor vandalism.

Name a leftist aligned protest movement that doesn’t routinely do all of these things.

Biden ‘Saves’ Democracy by Destroying it

When faced with the possible return of President Donald Trump, the current agenda of the Democratic Party is summed up simply as “We had to destroy democracy to save it.”

The effort shares a common theme: any means necessary are justified to prevent the people from choosing their own president, given the fear that a majority might vote to elect Donald Trump.

Sometimes the anti-democratic paranoia has been outsourced to state and local officials and prosecutors to erase Trump from the primary and likely general election ballots as well.

One unelected official in Maine, Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, is a Democrat, an official never elected by the people, and a non-lawyer rendering a legal edict. Yet she has judged Trump guilty of “insurrection.”

Would you agree to house illegal immigrants in your home?

I will admit it: when I first saw this tweet, which contained no documentary link, I said to myself, “Self, this just has to be faked, so I Google searched for it. Guess what?

The state’s shelters are reaching capacity and now the governor is asking residents to help by opening their doors. That was part of Governor Maura Healey’s announcement–as she also is looking for help from the federal government.

The governor said anywhere between 10 to 30 migrant families a day are coming into Massachusetts. There are 40 hotels across the state helping to house them, but the governor is now pleading for help from the federal government—as well as you.

Governor Healey says close to 5,600 families are currently housed in the state’s emergency shelter system. That number is 80% higher than one year ago. Massachusetts is the only state in the country with a right-to-shelter law that guarantees homeless families access to emergency shelters. She says Massachusetts has been spending around $45 million a month to help assist these families. The situation is so bad, the Healey administration is now asking people to open their homes and businesses to help people in need.

“Most importantly, if you have an extra room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family. Housing and shelter is our most pressing need and become a sponsor family,” said Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll.
