Great American Stories: Coolidge’s Quote
It’s Friday, July 7, the day of the week I pass along quotations relating to American political life — lines intended to be uplifting or educational. Today’s words come from Calvin Coolidge.
On this date 102 years ago, Vice President Coolidge spoke at the second annual conference of the American Classical League, being held at the University of Pennsylvania. It was a typical assignment for a veep — then, as it would be now — but Coolidge warmed to the task. He gave a spirited and well-received address to a group formed in the waning days of World War I to promote the teaching of Greek and Latin and classical history.
“We come here today in defense of some of the great realities of life,” Coolidge began. “We come to continue the guarantee of progress in the future by continuing knowledge of progress in the past.”
“We come,” he continued, “because we realize that the only road to freedom lies through a knowledge of the truth.”

San Antonio armed citizen shoots, kills two suspected robbers at ATM
San Antonio police chief William McManus gave reporters a bit of an understatement on Friday, calling a self-defense shooting a “robbery that didn’t go well for the robbers.”
That’s putting it mildly. According to police, both suspects were shot and killed by their intended victim; a man in his 20s who was in the process of getting money from an ATM when he was targeted.
The man saw the two suspects approaching him, one on foot and the other in a sedan.
He pulled out a handgun and shot both of them, killing them.

HOW U.S. FOREIGN AID TO IRAQ FUNDS TERRORISM AGAINST AMERICANS
In 2020 and 2021, the United States spent over $600 million on foreign aid in Iraq. That’s down from a high of over $2 billion in 2018 and $4.4 billion in 2016. But it still means that we have blown through over $10 billion on Iraq since 2016. That’s long since we officially withdrew.
Meanwhile, where was Iraq’s money going? Iraq’s latest budget dedicates $2.8 billion to Shiite PMU terror militias including Kataeb Hezbollah: an Iran-backed terror group that has been responsible for the deaths of numerous American soldiers.

Socialist BLM Mayor Arrested After Invading Homeowner’s Property
Khalid Kamau, a BLM activist and Bernie Sanders supporter, thrilled the Left when he took over as mayor in South Fulton, Georgia. Quickly, he began implementing his vision.
South Fulton’s identity as a Black city is something kamau wants to embrace fully. “Black On Purpose” is a phrase coined by him referring to the types of policies he wants the city to push — ones that intentionally improve Black people’s lives.
Being “Black On Purpose” is key in his vision for the city: a highly educated citizenry and the best place to do Black business. But, getting past the growing pains of being a new city — and the Blackest city — won’t happen without having courageous conversations about identity, insecurity and purpose, he says.

Chestfeeding: The CDC’s Erasure of Women
Since the whole COVID debacle, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have become somewhat of a joke. This, right here, on chestfeeding, cements the notion.
The CDC has now brought forth guidance on “chestfeeding” newborn babies for trans and non-binary (read: men) who want to continue to delude themselves into thinking they are actually women. Can a transgender person breastfeed? The CDC says “yes”. From the actual CDC webpage:
Some transgender parents who have had breast/top surgery may wish to breastfeed, or chestfeed (a term used by some transgender and non-binary parents), their infants. Healthcare providers working with these families should be familiar with medical, emotional, and social aspects of gender transitions to provide optimal family-centered care and meet the nutritional needs of the infant. These families may need help with the following:
-Maximizing milk production
-Supplementing with pasteurized donor human milk or formula
-Medication to induce lactation or avoiding medications that inhibit lactation
-Suppressing lactation (for those choosing not to breastfeed or chestfeed)
-Finding appropriate lactation management support, peer support, and/or emotional support.’-The CDC
