Notre Dame Shows Stanford How Free Speech Works

Take note, Stanford Law students. Notre Dame just showed you up in the civility and free speech departments.

Those of you who read this blog will recall the incredibly childish temper tantrum that some precious Stanford Law students put on when Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Kyle Duncan attempted to give a speech at Stanford on March 9th. The students immediately started yelling and heckling Judge Duncan before he could even give his remarks, and then the whole event really went off the rails when Stanford’s DEI dean, Tirien Steinbach, decided to give her own little lecture – to Judge Duncan.

Warriors Don’t Want to Fight for a Woke, Anti-American Military

The House Armed Services Subcommittee for Military Personnel held a hearing last week to discuss the growing national security crisis arising from the military’s cratering recruitment numbers.   A potpourri of Pentagon nincompoops all universally lauded the Defense Department’s ideological obsession with “lived experiences” and “diversity for diversity’s sake.” While championing the Marxist military’s decision to waste over six million man-hours of training on the dangers of “extremism” and “white privilege” and the seminal importance of “diversity, equity, and inclusion,” not one Pentagon official could muster a real answer as to why recruiting numbers are so disastrous.

AS CHINA WAR LOOMS, NAVY’S PRIORITY IS GOING ‘GREEN’

The “age of American naval dominance is over”, Jerry Hendix, a former Navy Captain warned in a high-profile article in The Atlantic.

Hendrix’s article imagines a scenario in which China or other enemy nations seize control of what are now international waters and the cargo that moves across them. “The great container ships and tankers of today would disappear, replaced by smaller, faster cargo vessels capable of moving rare and valuable goods past pirates and corrupt officials.” A handful of nations would end up controlling the chokepoints of international trade and America would not be one of them.

A Legacy of Liberty

In his monumental Reflections on the Revolution in France, Edmund Burke goes to some length to demonstrate how the principle of inheritance operated in English law. The young person to whom he addresses his lecture — which began as a correspondence — seemed to have been deceived by those who contended that the English constitution included a “right” of the people to choose their own king. This contention, as Burke shows, was based on a misunderstanding of the Glorious Revolution of 1688, which had the effect of bringing William and Mary to the throne. Yet in the very document establishing this succession, the signatories declare the fealty of “ourselves and our posterity” to their new sovereigns — and their posterity: How could the principle of inherited authority be voided, asked Burke, if the English people could by solemn compact bind their descendants as subjects of the descendants of their sovereign? So the imagined “right” to choose their own king was not proven by the Glorious Revolution; rather, it was explicitly denied.

Leftists lose their minds over Parental Rights Bill

“Bills like this make schools more hostile. And make no mistake, it results in hate, bigotry and, yes, sometimes death of our students in schools.” – Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin was elected in 2021 in large part thanks to his pledge to honor the rights of parents after his Democrat opponent Terry McAuliffe said the quiet part out loud during a debate about how he believed parents should have no say in what their children were taught in the public school system.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis easily won reelection by historic margins in his state in 2022 even after being relentlessly vilified by the press and Democrats over, among other things, his signing of the Parental Rights in Education bill into law in March 2022.
