A 40-year-old in Atlanta, Georgia is behind bars this week after he allegedly shot and killed a man he found sleeping inside of a vacant house that he owned.

If they are running away, they are not a threat, so, that is not self-defense……

  1. Because I am an every day and every where carrier I have also studied up an awful lots of gun laws for when can I shoot and not go to prison. Sounds simple but nope. A lot depends on what state you are in and who the perp is as Kyle Rittenhouse discovered. As a white man I would be VERY wary of shoot to kill black skin color without having dire threat and hopefully that caught on film. There’s a neat series of books I found = https://www.amazon.com/How-Own-Gun-Stay-Jail/dp/0964286459 and this series gives real-life examples of those who used a gun = prison and those who used a gun = got off scot-free with cause.

    1. I would imagine Rittenhouse being tried was mostly political. And yes, some DA’s are very anti self-defense. I know of a guy who was attacked in his own yard and shot in self-defense. His neighbor, who was very anti-gun lied to police, saying he shot the man in cold blood. DA took a year or so to decide not to charge the man.

  2. Since running away makes someone a non-threat, maybe someone should tell the damn cops. They seem to be the worst ones about shooting people in the back.

  4. But are they “running away” or are they headed toward cover and concealment or threatening someone else (e.g. family members)? Be careful of hard and fast “rules.” They can get good people killed.
