Victor David Hanson take a stab at defining exactly how Marxifornia’s Governor Newsom defines “freedom”

In a run-up to what is likely to be a 2024 presidential bid, California Governor Gavin Newsom hit upon the bizarre idea of boasting in commercials that California is America’s true “free” state.

Yet, with the most burdensome regulations and high tax rates, Newsom’s California is arguably the most unfree state in the union.

In return for these steep costs, the state’s public institutions, infrastructure, and services are among the country’s worst.

Go read it all. By all accounts Marxifornia has fallen, and Governor Hair Gel is still pushing policies that, well, will keep it down. Hanson has a very, very, very long list of things wrong with California. And Governor Backasswards wants to be president apparently. Yeah good luck with that. But, the idiocy of Newsom has even led him to go after Florida, a far more successful state, with far, far fewer taxes and regulations. He wants Floridians to leave and head to Marxifornia.

Let’s see, leave Florida, and Texas, and I suppose other free states and move to a state where everything is going to sh#&? And pay far, far, far more in taxes for all the failures of California? And live where massive regulations are regulated with MORE regulations?

Oh, and, Governor Newsom thinks he can defeat Florida Governor Ron DeSantis? If Newsom had a lick of sense, he would learn from Gov. DeSantis, and Gov. Noem of South Dakota, and Gov. Abbott of Texas and other governors who are actually helping their states.

Governor Douchebag, who looks like what would happen if a televangelist and a used car salesmen had a baby, has declared war on self-defense, and the firearms industry and gun owners. Ed might just have two words for The GQ wannabe

California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a bill that will allow individuals, local governments and the state’s attorney general to sue gun manufacturers over crimes that are committed with their weapons.
The Firearm Industry Responsibility Act will also ban the manufacture or sale of guns that are “abnormally dangerous and likely to create an unreasonable risk of harm to public health and safety in California.”
In a tweet with a video announcing his signature, Gov. Newsom wrote that “irresponsible gun manufacturers and distributors can no longer hide from the mass destruction they have caused in California.”
The governor added that Assemblymember Phil Ting’s bill will allow “victims of gun violence can go to court and hold the makers of these deadly weapons accountable.”

So, it is a bill allowing junk, bull shit lawsuits and Newsome knows it. This will be his “issue” when he runs for president. Of course that horse he wants to ride in on is a broken down nag. You wanna know what type of leader Newsome is? Check out the thousands of homeless/addicts etc. Camped out on the streets of California cities.

Biden is trying to bring back Obama’s mileage standards that were estimated to raise car prices by 20%.The goal is to “nudge 40% of U.S. drivers into electric vehicles by decade’s end.”
Will 40% of Americans be able to afford electric cars that cost an average of $54,000 by 2030?
Not likely. Nor are they meant to. Biden’s radical ‘green’ government, which includes Tracy Stone-Manning, the former spokeswoman for an ecoterrorist group as the head of the Bureau of Land Management, isn’t looking to nudge drivers into another type of cars, but out of cars.

Mike Miles gives us the take of two climate scientists

Two top-level American atmospheric scientists have dismissed the peer review system of current climate science literature as “a joke”. According to Emeritus Professors William Happer and Richard Lindzen, “it is pal review, not peer review”. The two men have had long distinguished careers in physics and atmospheric science. “Climate science is awash with manipulated data, which provides no reliable scientific evidence,” they state.
No reliable scientific evidence can be provided either by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), they say, which is “government-controlled and only issues government dictated findings”. The two academics draw attention to an IPCC rule that states all summaries for policymakers are approved by governments. In their opinion, these summaries are “merely government opinions”. They refer to the recent comments on climate models by the atmospheric science professor John Christy from the University of Alabama, who says that, in his view, recent climate model predictions “fail miserably to predict reality”, making them “inappropriate” to use in predicting future climate changes.

So states an article recently published in the Toronto Sun. When considering broader context of the war against carbon emissions, CAP arrive at an intriguing hypothesis:

With carbon reduction as rationalization, Justin Trudeau wields the power to control our national destiny. In the name of fossil fuel emissions, our Liberal government has the ability to destroy segments of our economy, and indeed entire industries.

The obvious category being Oil Sands production in Alberta. In the name of Covid, Canada’s trucking industry took a giant spill. Next on the agenda is an attack on Canadian farmers. Leveraging climate change concern, government are pushing for reductions in emissions of nitrous oxide from fertilizers.

Farmers claim government’s moves will cause “severe economic harm, including billions lost.” The Western Canadian Wheat Growers has released a report stating the plan would cost Alberta $2.95B, Saskatchewan $4.61B and Manitoba $1.58B in lost production from canola and spring wheat crops alone.

Could the intent of the Biden energy policy any clearer? This is not incompetence, this is absolutely intentional

The Biden Regime having already hamstrung the energy industry, shutting down the Permian Basis will be devastating. But that’s not all our rulers have in store for us. For the next step in their incremental strangulation of the energy industry, they plan to prevent new offshore drilling in either sea or shining sea:

The proposed plan will give the administration the ability to hold no new lease sales at all, according to the Interior Department. The plan could allow a maximum of 11 oil lease sales for offshore drilling, ten in the Gulf of Mexico and one in the Cook Inlet off of the south-central Alaska coast over the course of the next five years.

That leaves nothing for the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Massive quantities of oil will lay wasted beneath the ocean floor.

The Interior Department is run by a leftist kook who was given the position because she is an Indian (do not say squaw) who evidently wants to get even with the pale faces for the injustices of centuries past.

Whoops Deb Haaland:

“From Day One, President Biden and I have made clear our commitment to transition to a clean energy economy.”

Whether it can work or not, whether it destroys our economy or not. When you put morons in charge, when you put petulant children in charge, and when you put Leftists who loather the country in charge………………

Moonbattery notes that the EPA might shut down the Permian Basin. Why does that matter?

Despite the big win in the Supreme Court against the green tyranny Democrats inflict undemocratically through the EPA, the Biden Regime’s war on domestic energy production continues to escalate:

[T]he Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it may soon issue a ruling declaring that vast parts of the Permian Basin are in “non-attainment” status under the agency’s ozone regulations. If such a declaration is made, it will constitute a direct governmental assault on what is by far America’s most active and productive oil-producing region and its second most-productive natural gas area. The Permian currently accounts for fully 43% of total U.S. daily oil production and is home to almost 40% of the nation’s active drilling rigs according to the Enverus daily rig count.

But… but… the Supreme Court said Democrats had to stop using the EPA as a wrecking ball to destroy the energy industry, and had to instead pass laws through Congress, which would force them to face the wrath of voters. Or maybe not:

Thursday’s decision by the Supreme Court of the United States in the West Virginia v. EPA case is not expected to impact the agency’s ability to set standards on ozone levels and enforce them. If anything, it seems likely the agency, at least under a Biden presidency, will seek to become more aggressive in this realm as a backdoor means of continuing to force coal-fired power plants out of business and, as in this case, hamper the domestic oil and gas industry.
Placing the Permian Basin in non-attainment status would force a significant reduction in the region’s rig count, severely limiting the domestic industry’s efforts to increase U.S. oil production at a time when the global oil market is already severely under-supplied.

Liberal heads are likely exploding over this too. Not a good week for Statists

On Thursday the Supreme Court handed down a ruling that will significantly curtail the power of executive agencies to control entire sectors of the economy through promulgating rules.
While some commentators view this decision narrowly as a determination of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ability to promulgate regulations to address climate change, in practice, it sets a precedent that will limit the ability of all executive agencies to make regulations that shift entire industries without specific congressional authority to do so.
According to legal expert Jonathan Turley, “it will be much more difficult for President Biden to order sweeping environmental changes without congressional approval” in the wake of this decision.

I hope that synopsis is correct There has been way too much power centralized in DC for far, far too long.

Yes, we all know President hamstrung our domestic energy. And now he is blaming those same energy producers for the consequences of his own actions!

More blatant dishonesty from our alleged president:

[On Tuesday], President Joe Biden admitted, for the first time, “We need more refining capacity,” in reference to the gasoline, diesel, and other energy shortages that are contributing significantly to inflation. But he then added, “This idea that [the oil and gas firms] don’t have oil to drill and to bring up is simply not true.”
In fact, as I have been reporting, Biden killed a major oil refinery expansion on May 14, just five weeks ago, and killed a one million acre oil and gas lease proposed for Alaska on May 12. Some might dismiss Biden’s refusal to open up one million acres in Alaska, but Biden has yet to hold a single onshore lease sale and delayed multiple oil and gas lease sales a second time last week.

Go read it all. Understand it is easy to blame incompetence, but the people pushing the president’s buttons want this to happen. It fits their “green” agenda, punishes America and pushes on towards more leftist controls. The worst thing Trump did to the left? He put this nation first, and the nation responded by booming. Trump proved that leftism fails. That the left cannot tolerate. They do not want America first. They want America to fall, because if America falls, there is nothing to stop the Leftist Utopians.
