Chicago mayor, Cook County Board president at White House for Biden’s gun safety office launch
WASHINGTON — With the nation grappling with chronic gun violence — and with Congress unlikely to pass any new laws — President Joe Biden on Friday launched a first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, with Mayor Brandon Johnson, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., in the Rose Garden for the kick-off ceremony.
Vice President Kamala Harris will oversee the new office Biden created by executive order, as the focus of the White House and the groups working to curb gun violence increasingly look to state and local laws to take actions, since Republicans in Congress have no inclination to back more gun-related measures.
The new office will “drive and coordinate a government and a nationwide effort to curb gun violence in America,” Biden said.
Added Harris: “With this new office, we will use the full power of the federal government to strengthen the coalition of survivors and advocates and students and teachers and elected leaders to save lives and fight for the right of all people to be safe from fear and to be able to live a life where they understand that they are supported in that desire and that right.”
Good morning, kids. Today is Yom Kippur, the day of atonement and the most solemn on the Jewish calendar. Rather ironic considering the world of sin, corruption and depravity that is rapidly turning this nation into the roadshow production of Sodom & Gommorah. So, the knives are out for Bob Menendez who in his own quiet way has been a poster boy of the aforementioned iniquity now for virtually his entire career in elected office. At first glance, that headline reads like “comedy gold,” unless Menendez knows something we don’t, or more likely don’t want to. That said, it certainly seems that his tenure at the public trough is kaput. There’s no way he’ll actually face any real prison time; he’s a Democrat and has followed his marching orders like a good little soldier when it came to helping them accrue power at the expense of our Constitution and our freedom.
If in the unlikely event he is convicted in a trial, regardless of the stiff sentence called for in the Federal Penal Code, he’ll have a nice, cushy room in Allenwood and after a sufficient period of time has elapsed and the spotlight has moved on to the subsequent meshugas, he’ll be released for good behavior or some such pretext where he’ll then go on to have a regular analyst’s gig on XiNN, MSLSD or Fux. That is unless he knows where the bodies are buried, figuratively and with his colleagues, probably quite literally. In which case he’ll be dining every night with Jeffrey Epstein and Vince Foster, among others.
Why Bob Menendez and why now? Scratch the surface of virtually every Democrat in office and sadly probably more than just a handful of Republicans, and you’ll discover they’re up to their necks in all manner of bribery, patronage, graft, election-rigging and maybe even worse. Menendez is not an outlier, as we all know from Biden, the Clintons and on and on down the line. They are the physical manifestation of what some brilliant analyst observed, “It’s not that the system is corrupt. It’s that corruption is the system.” I suppose it always was. Before 2020, when our eyes were finally pried open and we could not look away, we deluded ourselves into thinking that vermin like Menendez et al were outliers and that more or less he and they would face an impartial criminal justice system.
Is the Left Happy That They Got Their Wish?
Woke continues because its privileged creators believe “What I create for others, certainly will not apply to me.”
America has been in a veritable cultural revolution since the 1960s. Nearly all our major institutions finally became woke—the administrative state, traditional and social media, universities, K-12, the corporate boardroom, entertainment, professional sports, and the foundations.
So the Obama and the Biden administrations finally seemed to have achieved their aims, in what the Obamas once boasted would be the “fundamental transformation” of America into something unrecognizable by its Founders. But what they gave us was nihilism—the destruction of norms, laws, and customs. There is no border, no criminal justice system, no real president any more.
The citizen is a serf, the illegal alien the veritable citizen. The former needs a passport to reenter the country, the latter is waved on through. There is a slob in gym shorts and a hoodie establishing dress codes for the Senate, teen murderers bragging that they won’t spend a day in jail, and a would-be state legislator filming herself doing sexual gymnastics while begging for cash only to be upset over the invasion of her “privacy.” So the Left got what it wanted and gave us our new America.
More of that quality New York gun control
New York has tripped over itself as a state to pass as much gun control as it can lately. After the Bruen decision gutted the requirement for people to show cause to carry a firearm, they’ve done what they could to make it untenable to do so.
But this isn’t new. The NY SAFE Act, for example, was a serious infringement on people’s Second Amendment rights and one that, in time, will likely be overturned.
Yet it’s the law here and now for people in the state. Law-abiding citizens don’t get to own things like the same AR-15s most of us can head to the store and buy right now.
It seems alleged criminals have no problems getting them, though.
