A Tale of Two Six-year-olds

You have probably heard of the six-year-old shot in North Carolina while retrieving a soccer ball from a neighbor’s yard. The girl was white, and it happened in Suburbia. It became a media sensation. Twitter blew up, in part, because of this shooting.
The other six-year-old was shot in the Woodlawn neighborhood, on the south side of Chicago. I can’t prove that it was ignored, but the only news stories I saw about the shooting were from local Chicago media outlets. Well, and HeyJackass! who noted the shooting in the weekend stats.

Students can now minor in “Creative Placemaking” starting this next semester at the University of Maryland.
“Students in this interdisciplinary minor learn how artists and designers can play a vital role in advancing public dialogue,” and will “[explore] our shared humanity and [while] addressing some of our major challenges,” according to the art department’s website. The new minor will help enrollees spark “conversations about racial injustice, inequitable development, climate change or celebrating the diverse communities and cultures around us.”

So yeah, there are dividing lines being formed. GOP candidates are lining up to to defend an evil, child-corrupting groomer corporation if it helps them “draw a distinction” from “DeSanctimonious.”

Nearly 15 years ago, I began comparing California to the kleptocratic regime of Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe. No matter how prosperous any place might ever have been, once its government is taken over by thievish, corrupt parasites, its future will become a tale of misery, chaos and despair. Such is the sadly predictable fate of California, where the Democratic Party’s stranglehold on power has produced a lawless nightmare wasteland from which honest people are fleeing. The state’s population has seen a net decline of more than 800,000 people in the past three years, an exodus that was accelerated by Gov. Gavin Newsom’s “maximum lockdown” response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is certainly no accident that California has become the “epicenter” of homelessness in the United States, with more than a third of the nation’s homeless population. Every major city in the state is blighted by shabby encampments full of drug addicts, psychotics and criminals.
TWO SHOOTINGS AND A RACIST DOUBLE STANDARD
In Kansas City, Missouri, Ralph Yarl, a 16-year-old teenager, was shot and wounded by the homeowner when he knocked on the wrong door. In Gastonia, North Carolina, Kinsley White, a 6-year-old girl was shot and wounded along with her parents when a basketball that children had been playing with rolled into a neighbor’s yard.
Ralph has already gotten a phone call from Joe Biden, and an offer to visit the White House. He has two lawyers representing him. His story has been splashed all over the national and even international media. The Washington Post has run no fewer than 17 stories about Ralph’s case: far more than the gangland funeral home shooting that actually took place in Washington D.C.
