Bet you have not heard of him but, you really need to know just what he is to. The Other McCain introduces us to yet another grifter

Shamann Walton was first elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 2018 from District 10, the voting-age population of which is about 42% Asian, 21% white, 19% black and 15% Hispanic. After being reelected as supervisor in 2020, Walton was chosen by his fellow members of the Board of Supervisors to be president of the board, a position which has often been a springboard to even higher office (e.g., Sen. Dianne Feinstein was previously president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors). Walton is therefore not a fringe figure in California politics, but rather represents the mainstream of politics in the highly influential city of San Francisco. Which makes this extra-scary:

A San Francisco advisory committee’s recommendation that the city pay out hefty reparations to the city’s longtime black residents does not go far enough toward making things right, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors told National Review on Tuesday.
Supervisor Shamann Walton, who wrote the legislation that formed the committee two years ago, said that the proposed $5 million payment per qualifying person is actually “much less than a lot of the projections that people say black people should receive for reparations here in the United States.”
“You can Google a lot of the reparations work that has been done and look at the monetary formulas that people have put together and most certainly the 5 million is a very minuscule number compared to a lot of research that has been done over the past couple of decades, quite frankly,” said Walton, who has represented the city’s 10th district since 2019 and previously served as board president.

Read it all folks, soak it all in. It is a very useful read. And remember, it is tough for a race pimp out there.

Gavin Newsom’s
‘Freedom State’

California-style social radicalism, which pretends to advance “freedom,” is a distraction intended to obscure the coming economic slavery its advocates support.

With his eyes firmly set on the Democratic nomination for president, Gavin Newsom on January 6 was sworn into the California governor’s office for another four-year term. In his second inaugural speech, Newsom highlighted the theme he evidently believes will carry him into the White House, “freedom.” But his perverse definition of freedom is as extreme as the right-wing caricatures he claims he’s protecting us from—and far more likely to be realized.

One of the centerpieces of Newsom’s “freedom” agenda is the right to an abortion. But Newsom isn’t merely defending the principles of Roe v. Wade, which tied the legality of abortion to the viability of the fetus. Nor is Newsom advocating the abortion policies enforced in almost every European nation, where abortion is illegal after 12 weeks.

It was only six days ago, on January 26, when I wrote a post containing a list of proposals for Christopher Rufo and the other new trustees of New College of Florida to take back control of the institution from the insane left. In an uncanny development, as if they having been reading the Manhattan Contrarian blog, Rufo and his fellow trustees, along with Governor Ron DeSantis, have already implemented the first proposal, and are well along on implementing the second.

As with all alkali metals, lithium is highly reactive and flammable.  It must be stored in a vacuum atmosphere or inert liquid (such as purified kerosene or mineral oil).

When cut, lithium exhibits a metallic luster.  When exposed to moist air, it corrodes quickly to a dull silvery gray color and then to a black tarnish.  Lithium never occurs freely in nature but only in ionic compounds, which were once the primary source of lithium.  Due to its solubility as an ion, it is present in ocean water and is commonly obtained from brines.  Lithium metal is isolated electrolytically from a mixture of lithium and potassium chloride.

The nucleus of the lithium atom verges on instability — because the two stable lithium isotopes found in nature have among the lowest binding energies per nucleon of all stable nuclides.  Thus, lithium is less common in the solar system because of its relative nuclear instability than 25 of the first 32 chemical elements (even though its nuclei are very light).  For these and other reasons, lithium has critical applications in nuclear physics.  In 1932, the transmutation of lithium atoms to helium was the first fully man-made nuclear reaction.  Lithium deuteride serves as a fusion fuel in staged thermonuclear weapons.

Lithium (and its compounds) has several industrial applications, including heat-resistant glass and ceramics, lithium grease lubricants, flux additives for iron, steel, and aluminum production, lithium metal batteries, and lithium-ion batteries.  These uses consume more than three-quarters of lithium production, and lithium is present in biological systems in trace amounts.  Lithium salts have proven helpful as a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant in treating mental illnesses, such as bipolar disorder and political leftism.

It’s too bad the judge didn’t ask the simple question “If guns are so bad, why are employees of the state of New Jersey not disarming, especially those who have fully automatic guns?”

Court blocks New Jersey law that allows state to sue gun industry

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked a New Jersey law authorizing the state’s attorney general to sue gun manufacturers and sellers for endangering public safety, finding it ran afoul of a federal law protecting the gun industry from such claims.

The preliminary order by U.S. District Judge Zahid Quraishi in Trenton, New Jersey, means the law cannot be enforced while the judge considers a legal challenge by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), a gun industry group. It comes a day after a different judge struck down parts of a separate gun control measure in the state.

“NSSF wholeheartedly welcomes this decision,” said Mark Oliva, a spokesperson for the group.

A spokesperson for New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said the governor was disappointed and confident the order would be reversed on appeal.
