Presidential historian Michael Beschloss is officially broken and needs a timeout because lost his damn mind on MSNBC on Wednesday night.

It has become glaringly obvious that no matter what happens, the left has selected leftists to decide what is settled and what questions we, the people, may ask.

They have decided for example, that the “science” is settled on climate change, electric cars, and gender identity.

Debates surrounding history, and how to teach it? Parents who wish to debate that question are considered threats by teachers unions. Therefore discussion or debate is VERBOTEN! So SILENCE! It is none of parents business what is taught to your children! Same when it comes to gender identities, trans students, etc. NO QUESTIONS!

Guns, the second amendment, self-defense, the right to carry? Discussion is not welcome. The left, they say has the stats that PROVE guns are bad, and that the second amendment is misunderstood by most dumb gun owners who represent a threat to all our safe spaces. Again, debate? How about SILENCE!!

Pretty much everything is being pushed into to the NO DISCUSSION NEEDED column. And, the ones demanding this standard are all on the left. HMMM, and, sadly, the media seems all too willing to abide by this idiocy. Take, for example, the Paul Pelosi assault story. Apparently anyone who questions any aspect of the story is a “dangerous radical pushing MISINFORMATION! And who is pushing that message? Yes, Democrats, but, also the media whose job is, in fact, journalism! So, the media will attack anyone who, asks questions, or investigates the case. Yes, you read that correctly. The media, the journalists are, in large part condemning, journalism! Seems journalism is now misinforation

Strange times these are my friends. Strange, until you remember what Marxists always do, they control, tightly control, information. Those that seek knowledge for themselves? They are radical, dangerous, and need to be prevented from (hurting the government) Or, as they say today, (hurting our…Democracy)

Over at American Greatness, Mackubin Owens attempts to bring reason, context, and actual history to the Columbus Day debate. I found this part to be especially important

The flip side of the denigration of Columbus and the United States is the claim that the native peoples of America were peaceful and innocent victims of white greed and violence. The fact is that the Indians did the same things to other Indians the white man is accused of having done to the Indians.
They fought over land and hunting grounds. They fought over trade with the British and the French. The Iroquois, who allied themselves with the British during the colonial period, fought a war of extermination against the Huron, who allied themselves with the French. For accounts of the interactions of the Europeans, Americans, and the various Indian tribes, read Francis Parkman and James Axtell.
Atrocities by one tribe against another were a matter of course. Many of the tribes practiced ritual torture. An observer provided an account of Iroquois warriors burning Huron captives. As the flames consumed them, the Huron sang a song. “It was a very sad song,” the observer noted.

Lots more at the link. Any meaningful debate of history, and historical figures must include context, and facts, period. The leftists, of course want nothing to do with that. To them, this is all about destroying American, not imparting historical knowledge.

West Virginia high court upholds school choice legislation!

West Virginia’s highest court greenlighted a school choice program that a lower court previously blocked.

School choice became a hot political issue during the COVID-19-related lockdowns as parents questioned governmental authority and what should be taught to children in public schools.

Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, a Republican, hailed the ruling in a post on Twitter.

“Many thanks go out to the WV Supreme Court for reversing the Kanawha Circuit Court and determining that the Hope Scholarship is constitutional. WV kids deserve the best public schools and as many private sector options as possible. This is a big win for educational freedom.”

If there is any confusion among women regarding their status relative to men who pretend to be women, this story ought to clear it up. In Vermont, the Randolph High School girls basketball team has been banned from its own locker room while educrats investigate the girls for objecting to the presence of a boy who says he is transsexual.

Refreshingly, female student and volleyball player Blake Allen stands up for sanity:

“I feel like for stating my opinion — that I don’t want a biological man changing with me — that I should not have harassment charges or bullying charges. They should all be dropped.”

The dispute started when the transsexual made an inappropriate comment while the girls were getting changed.

[Miss Allen] says that fellow team members and parents have also raised similar concerns and have approached the school with them. They were told that under state law, the transgender student could use whatever locker room [he] identified with.
In an email to families, school officials wrote that the school has “plenty of space where students who feel uncomfortable with the laws may change in privacy.”

Apparently the girls, who dared to say they were not OK with this are now being investigated for harassing the trans student

School Concedes To Trans Teacher, Will Enforce Preferred Pronouns And Restroom Policies

A Maryland school district settled with a transgender teacher days ahead of the trial, agreeing to enforce policies including transgender students’ preferred pronouns and restrooms, according to the Washington Post.

Prince George County Public Schools in Prince George’s County, Maryland, settled with Jennifer Eller, who sued the school in 2018 saying she was subjected to harassment after changing gender identity, according to the Washington Post. Under the settlement, Eller received financial compensation and the school agreed to enforce transgender policy which requires educators to hide students’ transgender status from parents and use preferred pronouns.

So, understand, she did not only receive compensation, no, se pressured the spineless school district to implement policies that she wanted! Talk about power? Oh yes, I know she is a “victim”, and a champion against “hate”, and so on. Except she is none of those things. She demanded that parents be left OUT of deciding for their children. That is the hallmark of a victimizer not a victim. But, there is MORE!!

The transgender policy which allow students to use locker rooms and restrooms based on identity. On overnight trips, students are permitted to room with whichever gender they best identify with, the policy stated.

Catch that? And parents? None of their business, because children are property of the State now I suppose!

Educators will be required to keep students’ transitioning status a secret from their parents, unless otherwise advised by the student to do so, according to the policy. The policy also requires educators and peers to use students’ preferred pronouns.

See? Parents shut up, let the State raise your child apparently. Again, because she was made to feel badly, IF her claims are true, the school district, part of the State will be able to indoctrinate kids as they please apparently! If this woman was harassed, or mistreated by the school, then award her damages. But trampling parental rights, and pushing a dangerous agenda that will harm kids, is not justice it is evil!

Oh the left and the descent into utter madness

Social media users ridiculed a recent Scientific American documentary claiming that, “before the late 18th century, Western science recognized only one sex—the male” and that “the two-sex model served mainly to reinforce gender and racial divisions.”

The contention that women didn’t exist until the 18th century is absurd and is also being taught in classrooms at both the most advanced and the most basic levels. Like critical race theory, it’s based on academic works that steadily gained influence during the last three decades while few outside academia noticed the normalization of their presence.

Now at Johns Hopkins you can find a class on “The Gender Binary and American Empire” which contends that “the sex and gender binary was produced out of colonialism and statecraft in Americas and particularly through US imperialism” while PBS tells school students that “on nearly every continent, and for all of recorded history, thriving cultures have recognized, revered, and integrated more than two genders.”

The murders in Newtown, CT, Parkland, FL, Sante Fe, TX, Uvalde, TX and elsewhere have reignited the contrived controversy over school shootings. I say contrived because, thankfully, and despite what the media and anti-liberty/gun cracktivists—I know: one-in-the-same–would have us believe, mass shootings are not increasing in frequency; their numbers remain minute, particularly for schools that empower staff to carry concealed weapons:
Even National Public Radio, an outlet not historically fair to gun owners, the Second Amendment, and realistic means of protecting children and teachers, discovered statistics about the numbers of supposed schools shootings, whether from government or anti-liberty/gun banning organizations, are wildly, falsely exaggerated.
Leftists, despite incontrovertible evidence their simplistic and freedom-destroying solutions—gun bans, “universal background checks,” closing the nonexistent “gun show loophole,” “red flag” laws, magazine capacity bans, “assault weapon” bans and confiscation and “gun free” school zones—do not work, they can’t possibly work–never cease pushing them. They patiently wait and renew their demands whenever a mass murder occurs, hoping to push over-reaching and ineffective legislation through the Congress while emotion might overpower reason. Within 24 hours of two California Deputy Sheriffs being ambushed and gravely wounded, Joe Biden pushed for gun control, citing weapons and magazines not used in that attack:
“What will it take,” they angrily and emotionally demand, “for us to pass common sense gun legislation?” Fortunately, hopefully, it will take a nation willing to disregard fact and logic, and willing to abandon their fundamental rights in exchange for ephemeral promises of safety. We’re not there yet, and no one should mistake willingness to temporarily cooperate in a pandemic—particularly after they’ve learned it was unnecessary and destructive–with willingness to eternally surrender fundamental liberties.
On second thought, such legislation is ineffective only in that it will do nothing at all to prevent school shootings, and even less to stop killers motivated to murder innocents in the future. Such legislation is effective only in limiting and hampering law-abiding American’s right to self-defense, and in putting even more power in the hands of Federal politicians and bureaucrats protected by taxpayer paid armed security, but desperate to deny the same protection to those they believe themselves uniquely suited to rule.

Oregon says, NO PROBLEM!

The Washington Examiner reports:

Oregon governor signs bill ending reading and math proficiency requirements for graduation
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown privately signed a bill last month ending the requirement for high school students to prove proficiency in reading, writing, and arithmetic before graduation.
Brown, a Democrat, did not hold a public signing or issue a press release regarding the passing of Senate Bill 744 on July 14, and the measure, which was approved by lawmakers in June, was not added into the state’s legislative database until more than two weeks later on July 29, an unusually quiet approach to enacting legislation, according to the Oregonian.

Gee, why would they wish tis idiocy to be done “quietly” I wonder. And do not feed me this BS about better assessments on requirements to graduate. If a student cannot read or do math by high school, then that student is not learning are they? How the Hell could they? Sorry but spare everyone the BS! Also spare us this “it will help, minority students” baloney as well.

Backers argued the existing proficiency levels for math and reading presented an unfair challenge for students who do not test well, and Boyle said the new standards for graduation would aid Oregon’s “Black, Latino, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.”

Oh Good Freaking Grief! Let me repeat the pertinent question. IF students are not able to read and write how the heck are they even passing up to middle school, much less high school? And YES, lowered standards hurt every kid no matter their skin color! Talk about racism, these lowered standards ARE the epitome of racism

Government institutions are in the business of making things worse in order to collect more money to make them better. We declared war on poverty and impoverished ourselves. After promising to fix homelessness, the streets are covered in needles and human waste.
Nowhere is this truer than in education.
Education results are inversely proportional to the amount of money spent on them. New York has the highest per pupil spending at $25,645 and the second lowest literacy rate in the country. Utah has the lowest per pupil spending in the nation and a 90% literacy rate.
Good thing the education market is set to hit almost $2 trillion by 2025. At 10% of GDP, we will spend far more than China (4% of GDP) with much worse outcomes to show for it. But Educrats will claim that if we only spent 25% of our GDP, Johnny would finally be able to read. All that’s holding him back is that Chicago public school teachers with an MA only make $89,083.

Scamming Bastards! Greenfield rips into these leeches, and God bless him for it! Make sure to read it all.
