Yesterday, I noted that the death of Queen Elizabeth has seemingly unsealed another vault of Leftist hatred of, well everything Western. This morning, The Other McCain hones in on that fanatical detestation the left oozes at every turn. And right now, it is the late Queen’s turn, as this poster child for mental illness, Uju Anya From an interview with The Cut
“I heard the chief monarch of a thieving raping genocidal empire is finally dying,” Uju Anya, an applied-linguistics professor at Carnegie Mellon, tweeted on Thursday. “May her pain be excruciating.”
“If anyone expects me to express anything but disdain for the monarch who supervised a government that sponsored the genocide that massacred and displaced half my family and the consequences of which those alive today are still trying to overcome, you can keep wishing upon a star,”
I suggest you read her whole interview at The Cut, if her version of events are correct, I feel for her. But, her words read like something a fanatic would say. And, sorry to say, those words have garnered her a LOT of attention. And, again, sad to say, but such attention can be quite profitable these days. And, her words sound a lot like other leftists who also have garnered attention, and sometimes that attention has been, for some, profitable. What “genocide” was Uju Anya blaming on Her Majesty? This was the Nigerian Civil War of 1967-70, when the southwestern part of the country sought to secede as “Biafra.” The main causes of this war were (a) conflicts between ethnic groups and (b) control of Nigeria’s oil wealth.
Why blame the Queen? It was under her rule that Nigeria, formerly a British colony, was granted independence in 1960 and, obviously, the British had an interest in the success of the Nigerian government. So the attempt to divide the country by the secession of “Biafra,” was something Britain opposed. Interestingly enough, the Soviet Union also supported Nigeria in this war, while Biafra was supported by France and the Chinese Communists. There is no doubt that the civilian population of Biafra suffered severely — more than half a million died — from the famine that accompanied the war, but genocide? Some scholars have questioned whether that term should be applied to Biafra.
Again, the mental state of many on the left, is, frightening. they, seemingly, have little ability to rationalize, or use context. They rather seem to go thrive on angst, anger, bitterness, and some for of rage at the drop of a hat. And they will gladly drop the hat themselves. And, that mental malfunction seems to be growing, and that concerns rational people.
I am no expert on mental health, but exploding in irrational outbursts and cursing your ideological opposites as evil, treasonous, and dangerous for simply holding a different opinion? Not a good place to be. I have had discussions over numerous “hot topics” Most have been with Liberals, a few with Conservatives. Liberals are, typically respectful, ask thoughtful questions, and allow responses. Even though we disagreed, we were civil. With the leftists we see today such discussions are nearly impossible. And, that issue seems to be worsening.
Why? Who the hell knows. It is likely a combination of factors. More than I can even identify. But, more and more hatred, division, and the manner in which our media, and education system seeks to teach or discuss “history” is not designed to educate but to indoctrinate are the main culprits. Our media cannot, seemingly, simply report stories anymore. Every story is followed by some “expert” giving their spin on it. Every story must have an ideological or political component to it now. Hell, we cannot even escape that on Sports Center.
Discussion? Perspective? GONE! Respectful, and informative discussions? GONE! A fact, and information based media? EXTINCT! It is all talking points now. Bumper sticker stuff. And teaching history in a balanced, educational manner? PLEASE!
Not that I desire to have no passion in debates, debates with zero passion are, well, like watching a Chevy rust. But, passion should not be confused raw, blind rage should it? And, yes, I do see too much of it from both left and right. I see it far more from the left, yes. Don’t believe me? Watch MSNBS, or CNN or The View. Read publications like Salon or Slate or The Root. Facts are not even considered in the screeds you read at those sites. Facts are not considered either frankly.
Finally, I will say that some on the right are no better, but very, very few that I am aware of not named Nick Fuentes or Alex Jones. But, I must add that when the sides disagree, it is the left that seems infatuated with laws banning behaviors, and civil rights, and favoring open discrimination which would silence dissent, not the right. The Right is far more friendly to liberty than the left.
The British Colonies of the past are today’s shitholes for one reason. A good comparison would be the well-run, orderly household that goes completely to shit 20 minutes after Mom and Dad leave the teenagers at home alone to go on vacation.
