“Enemy of Democracy” Ron DeSantis Pokes The Progressives Again
It’s way too early in the 2024 Presidential Race to eliminate any candidates, except, for me, Asa Hutchinson and Chris Christie. I have my preferred candidate, but I will keep an open mind for all the rest because I like to win, but not at any cost. The Progressives have a playbook that has varied little since 1980. The more they denigrate a candidate and call him an “enemy of democracy”, the more they fear him or, someday, her. We know that anyone who isn’t a Democrat is a fascist and totalitarian. And, so it goes.
Ron DeSantis, ipso facto is an “enemy of Democracy” because he is a Republican. Not a spineless, squish Republican, but a ramrod Republican. There are copious reasons why. Last year, DeSantis fired Prosecutor Andrew Warren. Warren sued DeSantis and a judge threw the case out. This time, DeSantis chucked Orange and Osceola Counties State Attorney Monique Worrell. Here is the announcement:

The big news Wednesday was that the House Oversight Committee “has tracked $20 million in payments to Biden Inc.” A few of the details via Ace of Spades:
Foreign oligarchs moved millions to Biden-tied firms before meeting Joe Biden, investigators say
House Oversight Committee now has traced more than $20 million in funds from Russians, Chinese, Ukrainians, Kazakhs and Romanians to Biden-tied entities.
Firms tied to the Biden family collected more than $20 million from foreign sources, including big payments from controversial oligarchs who afterwards had private dinners with Joe Biden as vice president, congressional investigators disclosed Wednesday.
In its third memo analyzing bank records, the GOP-led House Oversight and Accountability Committee reported it had found a clear pattern of the Biden family and its partners doing business with Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Chinese and Romanian figures who had legal and other troubles and then collecting money around the times of gaining access to Joe Biden.
The pattern, the congressional investigators noted, corroborates recent testimony from former Hunter Biden business partner Devon Archer that the presidential son solicited business from foreigners who were seeking influence, access or protection from a family “brand” that included Joe Biden.

Canceled: Washington & Lee University removes plaque honoring Robert E. Lee’s horse
Traveller, the horse which served Confederate General Robert E. Lee, has long been a fixture of campus culture at Washington and Lee University, as the famous steed, known for his courage and stamina, is buried on campus.
But Traveller’s Confederate connections recently led university officials to remove two markers erected in his honor, his gravestone as well as a plaque honoring the beloved companion.
The decision prompted anger and concern from some alumni and students. Traveller served Lee both during the Civil War and afterwards, when the ex-general became president of the then-Washington College. Lee was president from 1865 until his death in 1871. Traveller died a few months later.
The university replaced one marker – Traveller’s gravestone – with a version omitting the original references to Lee and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

My absolute favorite piece of writing this week is by New York Times charity case Charles Blow, who watched the hysterically funny Montgomery dock brawl and was nearly moved to tears thinking about slavery.
For the uninitiated, there was a blowout mob fight on an Alabama riverfront dock last Saturday after a mini cruise boat captain attempted to move a pontoon parked in his vessel’s way. The guy reportedly tried to physically push the pontoon by hand after alerting its passengers that they were in his commercial boat’s spot, and video shows them — roughly six people — responding by dogpiling the captain
Because “diversity, equity, and inclusion” is all the rage, the event intensified by nature of the riverboat captain being black and the pontoon passengers all appearing to be white. In video footage, witnesses are heard screaming, “Help your brother!” and, “They wrong for that!”

Being a Hall-of-Fame athlete and superstar actress doesn’t have to make you an insufferable narcissist, but for Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union, that’s exactly what happened.
in an interview with an outlet called Parents.com, a site that fully favors the transgender movement, Wade and Union discussed how to effectively raise children in today’s world. The two were an interesting choice to give their take on the matter, seeing as how they moved from Florida to California because they felt the state’s transgender laws were too oppressive for Wade’s son (from his first marriage) who tried to become a female. But since the website supports stuff like that, it makes sense they were chosen.
Parents.com asked the duo the following question: “You relocated from Florida in 2020, partly because you wanted Zaya, who is transgender, to grow up in a safe environment. Was it an easy decision?”
The response was as idiotic and senseless as you’d expect:
