Daily Wire- Who you gonna believe? Mexico, or Texas?

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott rebuffed claims from the Mexican government that pinned the deaths of migrants this week on a buoy barrier installed by his state in the Rio Grande.

Two bodies, likely of migrants attempting to illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border, were found Wednesday, one of which was recovered near buoys in the river that are a part of Abbott’s newly installed border barrier. The Mexican government was the first to inform the public about the incident and linked the deaths to the buoys, after which Abbott’s office rejected the explanation.

“The Mexican government is flat-out wrong,” said Abbott’s spokesman Andrew Mahaleris, according to the Washington Examiner. “To be clear, preliminary information points to the drowning occurring before the body was even near the barriers. The Texas Department of Public Safety previously reported to Border Patrol the dead body floating upstream from the barriers in the Rio Grande.”

Who do I TRUST? Give me Gov. Abbott!

Are illicit drugs bad? Do they kill more Americans than anything else? Yes! So, how do we put a dent in drug trafficking. Declare war on cartels? Sure! Get the president, no not President Mumbles, wait till we have a capable president who will allow police and military assets to formulate plans and let them do what they do. Also CLOSE the border, enforce laws that make sense, and ignore the loudmoth leftists.

Also, do something about the Fruit cake State, Oregon

Portland, Oregon shows how not to do it – decriminalizing deadly drugs means more deaths

Is anyone shocked by this?

The graphs tell it all. Click thru. But there are two points I will maker here.

First: The Crude Death Rate in the US for drug overdoses saw a 50 percent increase in 2 years.

That is a huge increase from 2019 to 2021 in drug overdose deaths.

The rise has been noticeable since about 2012, but in 2019 it skyrocketed.

War on Guns- Oh Goody, another Hollywood Statist

Now it appears that the successor word to “gun safety” will be “gun responsibility”. This comes from Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey. He, of course, is using the tragedy in his hometown of Uvalde, Texas as the pretense to urge for “gun responsibility.”

McConaughey says there is a difference between control and responsibility in his op-ed in the Austin American-Statesman.

There is a difference between control and responsibility. The first is a mandate that can infringe on our right; the second is a duty that will preserve it. There is no constitutional barrier to gun responsibility. Keeping firearms out of the hands of dangerous people is not only the responsible thing to do, it is the best way to protect the Second Amendment. We can do both.

That all sounds nice but it is sophistry. As Bishop Robert Barron noted in his commencement address at Hillsdale College:

Their concern is not being truthful or just but rather speaking in such a way that they appear truthful or just and hence become convincing to others. Such sophists were, obviously enough, enormously useful to prospective lawyers and politicians in ancient Greece, and it should be equally obvious that their intellectual descendants are rather thick on the ground today.

Lidblog SOOOOOO how many crimes have illegals committed in Texas since 2011? WHAT? HOW many?

According to a report, illegal aliens have committed at least 430,000 crimes in Texas since 2011.

Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) recently noted that millions of these “needy foreigners” will burden Americans for decades.

Well, clearly they are only committing crimes Texans just will not commit!

Racial Literacy?. What fresh pile of manure is this?

Virginia Commonwealth University dropped its “racial literacy” class requirement because the school said it does not have enough instructors to provide qualifying courses to the incoming 5,000 freshmen and transfer students.

“The university needs more courses, and more course sections, to offer before this requirement can be fully implemented,” the provost stated in a July 31 message to the university community. “When you consider the typical number of entering, first-time students and transfer students, VCU has an annual need of approximately 5,000 student seats.”

“We cannot, in good faith, require of students something they have no opportunity to meet,” Provost Fotis Sotiropoulos stated.

The requirement came from student activism following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers in May 2020.

The University Undergraduate Curriculum Committee “adopted the racial literacy requirement with an intention to develop and approve courses across the university’s academic units students could take to meet the requirement, which was to begin in the fall of 2023,” the provost stated in his message.

Babylon Bee wields the Blade of Sarcasm

The Babylon Bee has compiled a list of sickening, ultra-right resources that will now be available in Florida public schools.

  1. Biology textbooks: Indoctrinating children with transphobia. Awful.
  2. Regular math books that aren’t Common Core: Do you really expect students to learn math the way they did it for thousands of years prior to 2010?
  3. First-grade health books that don’t even mention gay sex: How are children supposed to learn about gay sex? How?!
  4. Framed portraits of Ron DeSantis all the kids must salute with arms at 45 degree angle each morning: Wow. History is truly repeating itself.
  5. Teachers that say “Slavery was awful, a real atrocity. But black people are strong and resilient and made the most of rebuilding their lives after they were emancipated.”: Calling black people resilient is white supremacy.
  6. The U.S. Constitution: Think of the horrifying things a child may learn by reading it.
  7. Natural, whole milk in the cafeteria: Where will young men get their daily requirement of soy?

Daily Caller has some deeply disturbing news

  • Between April and June 2023, officials in Fresno, California, discovered at least 20 potentially infectious agents, such as HIV and Malaria, as well as mice genetically-engineered to carry COVID-19, at an “unlicensed” laboratory in Reedley, California, operated by Prestige Biotech Inc. (PBI), the successor of defunct Universal Meditech Inc. (UMI), according to court records.
  • PBI and UMI’s executives appear to share the same names and addresses with one of the lab’s Chinese pharmaceutical suppliers, business filings show.
  • “There could be dozens — maybe even hundreds — of these labs that we don’t even know about,” Brandon Weichert, author of “Biohacked: China’s Race to Control Life,” told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The company that allegedly operated an illegal biolab in California housing infectious agents has ties to multiple related Chinese pharmaceutical firms, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation review of court filings and government records.

In mid-June, officials from Fresno County began removing medical waste from an “unlicensed” laboratory in Reedley, California, operated by Prestige Biotech Inc. (PBI), the successor of defunct Universal Meditech Inc. (UMI), Fresno County court records show. Inspectors at the site discovered at least 20 potentially infectious agents, such as Malaria and Dengue virus, on the property, according to the documents

State of Loneliness by Daniel Greenfield

Senator Chris Murphy has proposed combating widespread loneliness in the country by creating a National Office of Loneliness. This new arm of the government would use the CDC to track loneliness statistics and develop a national strategy to fight loneliness including creating guidelines telling Americans how many friends they should have to be less lonely.

The only ones keeping company with the National Office of Loneliness would be the myriad of other White House offices including the Office of Public Engagement, the Office of Neighborhood Partnerships, and the Office of Communications which all claim to talk to the public. With so many government offices talking to us, how can we possibly be lonely?

Inviting the CDC to fight loneliness is like ushering an arsonist into a house party. Loneliness increased dramatically after the CDC’s lockdowns isolated people, tore apart families and broke down communities. There are still family members who are not speaking to each other due to the hard work of the boys and girls in the hazmat suits making dance videos at the CDC.

Animal, has this

Last week, City Journal’s Ian Kingsbury presented us with an example of a lousy “mass shooting and structural racism” study, and told us why it was a lousy study.  This is an essential read if you’re on the Second Amendment side.  Some highlights, with my thoughts:

Is there any limit to the degree to which “researchers” will discredit themselves to prove their woke bona fides? A new study published in JAMA Surgery suggests not.

The study, “Association Between Markers of Structural Racism and Mass Shooting Events in Major US Cities,” purportedly seeks to understand whether evidence exists that “structural racism” plays a role in mass-shooting events.

To test their theory, the researchers quantitatively examine the correlation between mass shootings and “structural racism.” They define mass shootings as any incident in which four or more people are shot, and they define “structural racism” according to various factors, including the percentage of black population in a major metropolitan area, the proportion of children living in a single-parent household, the violent crime rate, and measures of segregation and income inequality.

Taylor Swift And Climate Change: Is The Youth “Shaking Off” Or Embracing Carbon-Intensive Lifestyles?

Climate change has emerged as an important issue for the younger generation—that is, Gen Z (born between 1997 and 2012) and Millennials (born between 1981 and 1996). Public opinion polls suggest that these cohorts are more worried about climate change and more supportive of climate policies.

Youth groups have been active in the Friday for Future demonstrations. Across the world, young plaintiffs are suing governments for what they perceive as relative lethargy on climate issues. Young activists are disturbing sporting events, stopping traffic at major highways and vandalizing museums—all with the objective of focusing media attention on climate issues. (snip)

Swift has embarked on a world tour that includes 131 shows across five continents. Tickets to her concerts are (very) expensive, with substantial resale markets. Along with concert tickets and records, Swift sells a range of merchandise on her website from clothing to jewelry.

It’s simple Taylornomics,” the Wall Street Journal reported. “When Taylor Swift comes to town, Swifties go on a spending spree.” Her fans fill hotels, pack restaurants and crowd local bars.

  1. The question is not how many Americans have died from illicit drugs, but how many innocent Americans have died from them. The drug problem is self-solving if left alone. It’s not like we would be losing our best people that actually contribute to society. You cannot save someone from themselves if they do not want to be saved. It really is that simple.
