Abbas calls on UN to oust Israel at world body’s first ‘Nakba Day’ commemoration
PA head claims Israel ‘lies like Goebbels,’ says he wants right to live in Safed; Foreign Ministry says it convinced dozens of nations to stay away; US boycotts ‘anti-Israel’ event

NEW YORK — Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas compared Israeli rhetoric to Nazi propaganda, demanded Israel be suspended from the UN if it does not grant Palestinians a state and a “right of return” for millions of refugees, and denied Jewish ties to the Temple Mount during a speech at UN Headquarters in New York on Monday.

Abbas was speaking at the UN General Assembly’s first-ever commemoration of the “Nakba,” Arabic for “catastrophe” and the Palestinian term for Israel’s creation.

West Hollywood Unarmed “Security Ambassadors” Failed. City Council Votes for More Police

In the constant push to defund police, the West Hollywood City Council voted in 2022 to cut law enforcement positions in favor of unarmed “security ambassadors.” The city’s plan to hire 85 “security ambassadors” failed to stop several high-profile crimes. On Monday, the city council reversed its original decision and voted to hire 4 positions for Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies that were cut last year. The vote was 4-0 with one abstention.

“I’ve lived here 40 years, and the city really has never felt this unsafe. And we’ve gone through long periods where … you could walk your dog at midnight. And now, people just feel like they have to stay at home. People feel like prisoners in their own home.” Steve Martin, West Hollywood resident (ABC7)

Biden federal government goes full suicide bomber against America

From his first days in office, President Biden has promised — threatened — to activate the administrative state at every level to address and solve the “climate crisis.” In the orthodoxy of the Biden/Democrat climate cult, this is to be accomplished by reducing U.S. carbon emissions into the atmosphere.

Now, even if you believe that a little more CO2 in the atmosphere is some kind of a problem (it isn’t), there is nothing that the United States can do to have any meaningful impact on that situation, given that countries with populations a large multiple of ours (China, India, Africa) are building coal-fired power plants as fast as they can. Even if we closed our economy entirely and reduced ourselves to eating grass and bugs, the effect on the climate would be zilch.

Paper Or Plastic? The Fanatics Tell Us We Can’t Have Either

The Biden administration and the Democratic regime that rules California and other states are so busy banning things that it’s hard to keep up with what’s allowed, what isn’t and what won’t be tomorrow or next year. Much of the black list is made up of high-profile targets, such as gasoline-powered automobiles, diesel engines, gas stoves and plastic straws. But the prohibitionists work in small ways too, and it all adds up.

Scolds and eco-temperance harpies never rest, their eyes always on the lookout for another modern convenience to outlaw. Having successfully interdicted single-use plastic bags in at least eight states, they’re now aiming for their only reasonable replacements: paper bags.

Paper can’t be a solution to plastic waste,” says the headline of a recent story posted on Canada’s CTV News site. New Jersey enacted a paper bag ban last year, the first in the country, because, well, that’s just what blue states and cities do now: satisfy the deranged urges of petty tyrants.

ANIMAL’S DAILY URBAN RENEWAL NEWS

CNN’s Nathaniel Meyersohn has decided to lecture us on the real reason stores are closing in big cities, and as you might expect from CNN, he’s full of shit:

Several forces are pushing chains out of some city centers: a glut of stores, people working from home, online shopping, exorbitant rents, crime and public safety concerns, and difficulty hiring workers.

To reinvent downtown retail, drastic changes may be required.

That means denser neighborhoods with a broader mix of affordable housing, experiential retail, restaurants, entertainment, parks and other amenities, which won’t happen overnight.
